GREETINGS AND NEWS FROM YOUR NEW BOARD OF DEACONS
- Learn who is on your new Board of Deacons
- Sunday Services return to hybrid format (Zoom & in person)
- Rev. Richard H. Woodward leading services the next two Sundays
Right after the end of our Annual Meeting last Sunday, the newly appointed Board of Deacons had their first meeting to elect their chair and secretary and to immediately address the many exciting items that are coming up for this month of February. Two members, Jeanne Lake and Mary Taggart, are continuing from last year’s board. Two members, Al Winters, Joanna Wheeler are returning to the board. And three members, George Linzee, Jean Linzee, and Larry Reinhart, are new to the board. All are grateful that Joanna Wheeler will be our secretary. George Linzee has been elected to chair the Board.
One of the first areas of our responsibilities to address was a review our worship services and to make sure that we have a supply minister for the pulpit. After a long discussion, the Board voted unanimously to open up the church sanctuary to those members who wish to attend services in person. This will transition us back to a hybrid arrangement where members have the choice between attending virtually by Zoom or in person. Those attending in person should bring a mask, sanitize their hands, sign in with their name and phone number, sit with their family in the pews that are open, and fill in the sanctuary from the front and exit from the rear first. Offerings and pledges should be left in the Narthex.
As many of you already know from the Annual Meeting, our Interim Minister Search Committee recommended, and the previous Board of Deacons approved Rev. Richard H. Woodward to be our pulpit supply minister for this upcoming Sunday, 2/07 and the next, 2/14. He is a candidate for Interim Minister currently under consideration and it is exciting that he and his wife Martha will be able to able to lead and share worship with us. Because of their visit, there will be a time directly after the service to meet and greet them both on Zoom and in the sanctuary. Vestry Café will therefore be scheduled to take place both at 12:30 PM (in deference to Super Bowl fans) & 7:00 PM on Zoom for those of us who wish to catch up with each other on the week. Please feel free to contact the new Board of Deacons with any questions, needs, concerns, suggestions, or encouragement by emailing me or calling me.
