The White Elephant Is Relocating!

posted Jul 26, 2018, 6:51 PM by Webmaster Carl Correia

Saturday, July 28 10 AM to 2 PM

Thanks to the many members and friends of The First Congregational Church of Marion for your donations to the annual Super Duper Summer Fair! Because of your generosity, the popular White Elephant Sale has outgrown its usual space in the church basement! This year it will be relocated to the first floor of the Community Center at 144 Front Street, at the rear of the General Store parking lot. Four rooms will be filled with an amazing array of items!

Also in the Community Center find The Chapel Café, where you can dine on our famous lobster rolls and other delicious sandwiches while listening to musical entertainment in an air conditioned space. Then head to Penny Pinchers Exchange, the church’s Consignment and Thrift shop, which offers a vast collection of clothing, housewares, jewelry, furniture and more.

Bring the family to The Super Duper Summer Fair and enjoy all that it has to offer for all ages! Parking available at Island Wharf. COME ONE, COME ALL!

Chapel Café News

posted Jul 12, 2018, 8:47 AM by Webmaster Carl Correia

The Chapel Café is keeping it simple this year by offering their famous lobster rolls made with fresh, local catch. A generous serving along with potato chips and pickles is priced at $18.

Not a fan of lobster? We got that covered by offering chicken rolls, too. They will be offered with the same sides as the lobster rolls and priced at $8.

Additional items will be water for $1 and dessert squares for 50 cents.

So, if you want to take a break from the heat in the air conditioned café, you will find it located in the Community Center Hall at the back of the General Store parking lot on Front Street or taking by the shortcut through the Penny Pinchers' Exchange located in the stone chapel building on Main Street. Live musical performances will be featured while you enjoy a relaxing luncheon.

Important note: If you don't want to be disappointed, please consider pre-ordering because the Chapel Café usually sells out early. Call the church office mornings at 508-748-1053 or Jeanne Lake at 508-748-0619 to reserve your order. Pay when you pick up your order, which can also be bagged for take-out.

Meat Pies!

posted Jul 12, 2018, 7:50 AM by Webmaster Carl Correia

Our chefs have been busy making specialties for the Prepared Foods Table. One all time favorite is the homemade meat pies. The pies were prepared in our church kitchen and frozen, ready for you to pop in the oven. Just add a couple of sides and voilà; a quick, easy, satisfying meal! Buy them early because they will not last long. Have your tagged purchase kept frozen while you enjoy the the rest of the Fair and pick it up on your way out. Watch for updates for other prepared foods that will be offered.

Attention Boating Enthusiasts!

posted Jun 29, 2018, 6:31 AM by Webmaster Carl Correia

We are fortunate to have received two donations that will please our boating friends. A Phoenix Poke kayak and a hard bottom inflatable dinghy with oars will be offered as part of our silent auction. Bids are accepted throughout the day and the highest offer takes the merchandise at the end of the day. Pictures and more details will be posted as they become available. This may be the perfect chance for someone to score a summertime fun bargain!

Gearing Up

posted Jun 11, 2018, 6:55 AM by Webmaster Carl Correia

Calling all members and friends. It is time to start "gearing up" for the Super Duper Summer Fair. Even if you cannot help on fair day, there are plenty of opportunities leading up to the big event. Please start thinking of ways you might help. Some suggestions are listed below, but you may have creative, helpful ideas to add. Please call Judith Coykendall or the church office with your ideas, questions, or for more information.

Please set aside those berry boxes from the market. Our blueberry packers can use them. We are still gathering donations (see the post below). We will take most items and find them a new home. What a great way to de-clutter your home and recycle for a good cause. We can arrange pick ups for larger items.

Many hands make light work. The more participating the more fun to be had by all. Thank you for your help in making this year's fair the best ever!

The Super Duper Summer Fair will be on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 10 P.M. until 2 P.M.

The first fair committee meeting was held on Tuesday, May 1, at 6:30 p.m. There was excitement in the air as committee members discussed plans for this year's church fair under the leadership of Judith Coykendall, 2018 Chairperson. Changes were proposed and the popularity of past attractions evaluated so an even better event could be held this year! Come back to this page often to find:  the latest information, volunteer opportunities, needs, contacts, and news. We are working hard to bring the best ever fair to Marion in celebration of family, friends, and summer fun! Mark your calendars.
